Downtown Properties Honored with 2009
Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation Honor Awards

930 Tchoupitoulas and 200 Carondelet in Downtown New Orleans were the recipients of the 2009 Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation Honor Awards.  Both properties were chosen for their contribution to enhancing the community and protecting historic buildings and utilized historic tax credits as part of their renovation financing.

930 Tchoupitoulas is a late nineteenth century three-story warehouse building on the corner of Tchoupitoulas and Andrew Higgins streets.  The first floor is now occupied by Chef Donald Link's rustic and "Real Louisiana" restaurants Cochon and the new Cochon Butcher and sWine Bar.  The second floor is home to the newly opened Calcasieu, a private dining facility.  The rehabilitation is considered an excellent example of preservation and re-use.

200 Carondelet, the Downtown landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the National American Bank Building, is a twenty-three story Modernistic skyscraper with a remarkable rooftop water tower.  The historic office building has been converted into deluxe, mixed-income apartment units with fine common spaces.  The highly ornate lobby, featuring marble, gold and silver leaf, and bronze panels, has been pristinely restored.

HRI Properties, headquartered in Downtown New Orleans, was also honored. The company received the 2009 Corporate Award in recognition of outstanding corporate support of a preservation goal or project.
