Welcome to Downtown New Orleans

With an array of economic development programs and beautification services to go with its "feet on the street" enhanced public safety system, the Downtown Development District has been a key player in moving Downtown New Orleans forward for more than three decades.

The DDD was created by the Louisiana Legislature in 1974 as the nation's first assessment-based business improvement district. Funding comes from a property assessment in the Downtown area, which is further leveraged with state and federal dollars, sponsorships and fund-raising activities. The DDD is governed by an 11-member board of commissioners that guides its policies and programs.

The future holds great promise for Downtown, and the DDD is here to help developers build their Downtown investments - from the ground up!

The DDD drives the development of Downtown New Orleans and is a catalyst for a prosperous, stimulating and innovative heart of the Crescent City.

SCULPTURE FOR NEW ORLEANS
You're not just "seeing things!" Monumental sculptures are popping up around the city of New Orleans, many of them Downtown. Sponsored by the DDD, The Mariposa Arts Foundation has initiated the "Sculpture for New Orleans" project which will place over 25 sculptures in public spaces around the city to bring awareness to New Orleans' thriving arts culture. Look for up to ten sculptures in the Downtown area coming soon!
